It's like a trend. Which came from twitter, it goes to Facebook and stuff and gets really annoying. But yup it was from twitter. When you hash tag something, it would go under like a whole list of people who used the same hash tag.

It's for twitter. That means people are tweeting using that hash tag subject.

On certain social networking websites or applications (twitter, google+, instagram etc.) when you hashtag your post you let other people know what it's about. Also hashtags let you see what other people are saying/posting on that subject. For example if I wrote "......#twilightsaga" then when I click on that tag I would see what everyone else are posting about the twilight saga, what they are saying, what they think and stuff.. hope i helped
