my grandpa passed away about 5 years ago now and before he did he gave me this bear and said it was very old. He didnt give me any history on it or a name or anything. The real thing im looking at is, is it an antique.

It's probably a Gund rubber face bear from the 40s . Here is one similar http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1940s-Gu..._500wt_715
or could be Rushton rubber or vinyl face bear from the late 50s early 60s. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=vint...&_osacat=0 I had a Rushton monkey lost in a hurricane 50 or so years ago. They were neat stuffed animals because the faces were more expressive than the kind with buttons for eyes. What a nice present from your grandpa. I think that is "Smokey Bear" you have. That company made a lot of Howdy Doody and popular kids cartoon characters into stuffed toys. Ads |
