How does Twitter work? Does it link with Facebook?

Do you need text message service to use it from a Blackberry, or is there an app for that? What is the advantage of using Twitter as opposed to plain, ol' Facebook?

You can use it by txt from blackberry and twitter has no advantage it is worse and weirder

It doesnt really compete that much with facebook. - they're two differnt things. - I think of it as facebook without photos and all those annoying applications.
