Should i get a twitter?

ok, i was thinking of putting my Original songs and some music cover on youtube. All my family & friends are excited and said I would be really great for that. (I like to sing for fun & play a little piano)
One of my friends suggest that I get a twitter, in case people want to uh. "follow me..."
But, Im not sure about twitter. I don't really see the point in all of it. I mean celebs put there "tweets" about how they went to the grocery store and buy milk.
its really too mainstream.
but, some of my friends like it. they make it sound fun. i dont know if i should or should not. what do you think?

Personally i made a Twitter account last week, and thought about deleting it.
im not addictive but i find it okay now, even though its not as amazing and fantastic as what people make out it is.
i think its a good idea, cause it will get people to follow you & they can see your videos on youtube.
i would make a account cause like me i kept thinking about it, then thought nah ill leave it. and it kept bugging me so in the end i made an account!
you not got nothing to loose!
i would make an account, if you like it stick with it.
if you dont you can simply delete it.
