How do you talk to people on twitter?

You go to their page on twitter and choose to send them a direct message. you prbly can't talk to famous ppl

when u type a message to someone
EXAMPLE

@persons account name so if there accoutn name was scraffy_cat you would write

@scraffy_cat hi how are you ect

As Emma said, use @. Keep in mind it's not a private message, it will post just like anything else you tweet.

It's just like texing but you use an e mail address and yyou have to sign up for it

You can either

@reply them or direct message them.
There are really no other direct ways in contacting them other than those two options.

Or well, they could be saying they've talked to them just to look cool. But hey.

Twitter is not really a good site for talking twitter is used to share with people about what your doing If you want a good site to talk to people try facebook or my space

Direct message of coarse. You can give it a try by going to there profile it is fun and easy to do. You can also send an @username to the person as well but most likely everyone will be able to see that.
