We all know it's inevitable, having to fight the machines.
Heck, we have to guard our privacy now, lest they put little red flags in our "permanent record".

Obama and Stalin are pissants compared to the threat posed by the machines; databases whispering to each other in the night...

How long before Americans realize we have to rage against the machines?
And other than GIGO, what can we do about it?
@Reaper: We don't have that kind of time.
The youngsters have already been sucked into the machine, through video games, smartphones, facebook &etc. Only us oldtimers who have actually read a million science fiction books can save humanity. And we are running out of time to do so. Soon we will pass into history, so we have to do something NOW!
But I don't know what we should do.
Hence my question. The youngsters see us as like unto a lunatic raving in the park standing on a soapbox preaching the evils of technology. REPENT FOR THE END IS NEAR! Heck, I have a smartphone and couldn't live without GPS these days. I am not a Luddite. But things are getting out of hand and I think we need to set limits and head 'em off at the pass, lest the machines get the upper hand and make slaves of us all.

Heck, how many businesses (like the local grocery store) could not function without bar coding and "just in time delivery" and if the power goes off they have to lo
lock the doors and shut down for the duration?
Most Americans don't have enough cash to buy milk, they use plastic cards. And the databases whisper to each other in the night, saying "oh look, he bought cheese, sausage and vodka..."
It's all on your permanent record.

Well there's the huge sci-fi assumption that we can actually create a self-aware computer intelligence. If that's not possible...then nothing is going to happen.

Secondly we can always hit the sucker with a Nuke-generated EMP to fry anything with an electrical circuit.

You recall "Colossus, The Forbin Project? 1966? We only saw the human will to never surrender begin at the end.

I would suggest horticulture. Beautify the machine's external eyes, ears and hands. Do it so the willing human quislings think it is praise and worship. Then tend the fast growing roots and vines. With, yes, the complete worship that will please the human priests and machine mind. It means lying.

Let the roots and vines slowly crush, rust out and choke the machine's externals. Then kill the priests. Even if it takes decades.

You're right about the youngsters. Their brains are turning to mush.

INVENTOR: Internet leaving children brain-dead: 'GOOGLE generation losing creativity and skills'...

One of Britain's leading inventors has warned that a 'Google generation' who rely on the internet for everything are in danger of becoming 'brain-dead'.
Trevor Baylis, who invented the wind-up radio, said children are losing creativity and practical skills because they spend too much time in front of screens.
The 75-year-old said he fears that the next generation of inventors is being lost, with young people often unable to make anything with their hands.
