Obviously, the economy is a huge issue right now with joblessness, people unable to pay their bills, poor housing market, etc.

However, there are some other issues that the United States needs to focus on, such as education, health care, immigration, Social Security, etc.

What do you think the government should also start to focus on as far as overhauling the current system in place?

Well -- it's the backlash of "fixing" the economy...we should concentrate on our national debt which is said to be 10 trillion dollars larger in 10 years w/ outlays growing and tax-revenues shrinking from the 9-year forward. That can't be good for long-term sustainability.

www. cbo. gov

And it surely can't be good for tax-burdens. The CBO came out w/ a new report that the top 5% can't carry that burden alone -- they're looking at the top 35% now...and soon, it'll be the top 65%. Another campaign promise broken? Time will tell...

The federal government's main responsibility is national security/homeland security.

The lefties in the government should not even be messing with the economy. There is nothing in the Constitution that gives them the right to interfere in private enterprise.

Illegal immigration! The government may like them here but they cost U.S. tax paying citizens too much. Our borders should have been secure since 9/11 and our immigration laws enorced.

Without a doubt it's illegal immigration. It's tied to all of the other major issues, such as national security and the poor economy. We need to protect ourselves from those who would intentionally do us harm, as well as those who would steal our jobs and drain us dry with social services. We are losing our national identity and it needs to stop now. If we don't, we may be watching future presidential debates in Spanish, with English subtitles!
