how much acting experience do i need before i can get an acting agent in Scotland?
Hey i'm Alan Dingwall i was just wondering how much experience i would need to get an acting agent, i don't have any actual credits but i have done a few preformances at school in talent shows and choirs and i've joined several drama clubs after school. here is some of the stuff i've done:
choir show - st Columbus high school - 2007
talent show (solo performer) - st Columbus high school - 2007
talent show (duet performance) - st Columbus high school - 2008
talent show (solo/group) - st Columbus high school - 2008
after school drama group - st Columbus high school - 2008
after school drama group - st peter the apostle high school - 2010
after school theater drama group - st peter the apostle high school - 2010
the above are listed in the order i done them in, would this be of any use?
i understand that it's not acting but it's performing and stage experience and there's been drama groups too. i'm currently looking for acting work shops at the moment to gain more experience and might be attending a college course in drama at the start of next year, so please understand that i am asking if i have enough experience to get and agent but i'm also looking for more courses and workshops to get more experience on stage ect...
can you give me some advice on how to make the fullest of my experience please? also in this industry you need to make contacts would it be okay to make contacts through social media sites such as facebook, bebo, myspce and msn ect...? please don't give me any advice on how to make it to hollywood or new york before i make it successful in those places i need to become successful here. also does anyone know any free casting websites online that doesn't involve needing a pay pal because i'm only 17 and i heard you need to be 18 to get one? also please if you have any new on how to get into film, theater or television then please could you give me some suggestions? can you give me any hints, tips, or advice on making it in this industry please? please do not answer with rude coments please and i know my spelling is bad so please no insulting my spelling either. thank you everyone for your answers.

It's the same all over the UK - you'd need to graduate from a major drama school or university Drama course.
School stuff doesn't really count for much, I'm afraid.
And talent shows may be fun, but they don't count as stage experience, nor do choir shows.

Aim for getting a place at Drama School - you can find details on http://www.drama.ac.uk.

But until you've graduated, no genuine agent would even consider you.
Forget Facebook, bebo, etc. You'd be wasting your time.
And all those casting websites are also useless. All you'll find is 95% scams and 5% amateur stuff.
The only way to find genuine auditions is through an agent.

Get experience in anything not connected with a school, and join a good acting class - again, not a school one.
But honestly - drama school is essential if you want to become a professional.
Good luck!

Cogito's advice is correct. You are expecting too much from too little I am sorry to say. It is great that you have a passion for acting and some experience. You must be aware that there are thousands of talented, highly trained and experienced young people out there. Agents have no need to consider anyone who doesn't have all of that.

You do need formal training to become competitive for work. Remember that the average age at good drama schools tends to be around twenty or more. If it is a possibility for you, consider auditioning for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and other great schools. The more industry recognition your training has, the greater your chances of work. You need to learn how to market yourself - knowledge of the business end of acting is critical.

The internet is a dangerous place for would be actors. There is lots of substandard acting advice on there and many, many scams. Do not pay anyone for anything other than good quality training at this point. You will be throwing your money away. Learn to sing and dance to increase your audition potential when you are well trained in acting. Work really hard, do a lot of research and reading and your acting dream will move closer. Very best of luck.
