Why won't Instagram let me follow anyone?

Why won't Instagram let me follow anyone?
When I go to someone's user profile, and try to follow them , Instagram always shuts down or force closes. I tried deleting the app , and then turning my phone off. This has been happenning for a few hours. PLEASE HELP!

You can thank Facebook; they recently bought Instagram for $1B US. They are blocking anyone from seeing pictures via Twitter. If you are having trouble, but Twitter is not a factor, then perhaps someone else can add further information.
