How to raise money for a business?
I need to raise money for a clothing line I'm making. I have another person who helped me with some of the designs, but isnt too involved in this project. I'm really left to raise the funds by myself. I need about $3,600.00 to launch this project. I've thought about posting our story on kickstarter.com.. I've put up a website asking for contributions here http://bscline.wix.com/blackstarclothing We have a twitter account with 1500 followers, but this hasnt helped us at all as of yet. I've been looking for a better job so I can save more money but I havent had any luck yet. Does anyone have any tips on raising money for a project like this?

Sell old junk you dont need, find temporary jobs, offer help to neighbors for money, oh and ive heard the clothing business is very shaky so good luck.

Well write a good business plan, and present it to the bank.

Many successful businesses today started out with capital provided by family and friends. They are usually the ones who will invest in you, not because you have such a great business plan, but because they want to help you out.

You can turn to charity sites like kickstarter.

Or you can get a job and save the money yourself.

But as far as getting an unrelated investor to hand over capital, you would need to have a pretty unique business model. That's the type of business where investors are willing to risk because the upside potential.

The next place to look for money is a bank, but without credit and collateral they are not going to give you the time of day.

I don't mean to discourage you, but there's nothing unique about a clothing line. If I had money invest I don't think I would be giving it to you. Your margins are not going to be high enough to justify the risk of inventing in an already competitive market sector with an unproven business owner (you or your partner). And chances are slim that you are the next Juicy Couture.

So my answer to your question is ask your family or save your own money.
