Why do people bang on environmental campaigners?
I don't get it. Some people think that "The Lorax" is terrible because it encourages kids to become eco-warriors, but I don't get what's so bad about that? It is our planet so we should all try to do our bit to protect it and its creatures, right?
Companies who cut down rainforests are not always seen as evil because it's their jobs, and they can make great products out of doing so. But surely just making a living and making great products out of cutting away animals', and people's, homes and livelihoods does not justify it at all? There are plenty of other ways to create these products, such as by sustainable farming, and these people could just get jobs on sustainable farms, couldn't they?
Greenpeace people get called everything from "freaks" to "extremists", but they are only trying to create world peace and protect the planet, aren't they? They don't really harm anyone, do they? After all, they are called GreenPEACE for a reason, aren't they?

The Dominant Social Paradigm is that humans are awesome and the earth is here to serve us. Environmentalists think that this view is too anthropocentric (human-centered), and some think it is down-right wrong. Of course, most of the population is unaware of the facts concerning environmental degredation or literally can't afford to care. Then there are the people and groups that straight-up tell lies and slander environmentalism, usually for some selfish reason or ignorance. Because environmentalism, and caring for nature in general is so novel of a concept in a market/human-oriented world, it will take time for people to come to terms with its "extreme" views.
