Should I go into social work or healthcare?
I really want to be a nurse but it is difficult work. Long hours and stress. So I was thinking social work. I'd still be able to help others, which is the main idea. But does anyone know how much social workers make in TX? And what kind of educational requirements are there? Thanks

Generally speaking, there is a higher demand and better pay for nurses than social workers. Both jobs carry a high potential for stress...it all depends on how you handle it.

Most would describe social work in some of the same terms - however many would describe the two very differently.

A nurse with experience (certain kinds of experience in particular) can do very well financially (especially if you are willing to travel).

As for requirements for social work - you need a minimum of a BSW and you will probably want to go on for an MSW. The job market for social workers is strong across the country and with the economic troubles we are in the demand will go up.
