Bake Sale Questions/Help?
Hi, I'm having a Bake Sale on Dec 15th and I need help answering a few questions........

1. Have you ever did a bake sale, what was your experience and how much did you raise?
2. What should I sell?
3. How much should I sell each thing?
4. When should I start baking? (Dec. 15th is a Saturday, Friday night, maybe?)
5. Since it's almost the holidays, should I do a Christmas theme or is that too corny?
6. How should I advertise my bake sale?
7. Where do they sell cellophane?
8. Should I have a decorating station, or is that too messy?
9. How much food should I make? (My location is at a Arts Academy)
10. How much could a bake sale earn?

1. Yes I have had a bake sale many times for my service club back in high school many years ago. We raised about 200 dollars, which is not bad for a couple of sophomores.

2. You should cell cookies. People LOVE homemade cookies.

3. It depends. If you can, sell each cookie for a dollar. Back then, we sold it for 50 cents or 75 cents for the bigger cookies.

4. Yes, bake on Friday night to ensure the freshest cookies. Remember people are going to want fresh homemade cookies, not stale cookies.

5. No, not corny at all. A Christmas theme is cute, plus it will attract more customers!

6. You should post ads in stores and around town with permission of course. You can post the news to your facebook or twitter accounts if you have them. You can spread the word and put signs around school if your school permits you to do so.

7. They sell cellophane usually at gift shops. Try shops like Hallmark or even the dollar store. I swear I usually see them at the dollar stores around here. Cheap but hey it's cellophane paper, they are all the same to me! If they don't have it there, then Hallmark or gift shops should have it. Department stores would also have it, you have to go to the gifting section.

8. I think having a decorating station makes it more organized but it may slow down the process.

9. You should probably make at least 15 dozen. I know it sounds like a lot, but that was the requirement when I was in high school. But you can make less. An Arts Academy would have quite a few people I assume.

10. A bake sale should earn at least 200 dollars. The more, the merrier!

Happy Holidays! and Happy Baking!
