Is it illegal to make video games in which kids die?

Playing Skyrim, and a few other games, I noticed that you can't kill younger children. Is this because its illegal?

but it is considered very tasteless and offensive and any major game studio will want to avoid any of that controversy.

It's not illegal, but I'm sure u can imagine the fuss it would raise if they did it.

Game developers want to sell to as wide a market as possible, so they will comply with social pressures as much as possible when releasing games.
