how do i get minecraft forge to work?

I have recently had problems with installing minecraft forge on minecraft to allow the use of the portal craft mod. However when i install the mod it gives me a black screen. now before you ask yes i had forgot to delete meta inf so i reset my minecraft file and then deleted the meta inf and installed the mod again however the same problem. Can anyone see what is wrong and/or point me the direction of where i should be downloading minecraft forge just i don't really think I've been downloading the right version even though it says 1.4.7

I know it is strange but sometimes with MineCraft certain MODs don't work on certain computers. Stuff is always working for me but not my brother or the over way around :L

Anyway, I would try going back to an old version of minecraft and using an old version of the mod, if that doesn't work then try re-installing MC, other than that then I can only think it is the strange ways of MineCraft :L
