What were the key elements of Franklin Roosevelt's first New Deal programs?
If you can please explain how these programs helped the U.S out with the Depression and how these programs were a success or failure. I would really appreciate a detailed and specific answer.

Ending prohibition
Rural electrification act Civilan conservation corps (to provide a few jobs and plant trees Works-progress administration (to provide a few more jobs and lay pipes soil conservation act (basically an excuse to subsidize the farming sector) FCIC (crop insurance) FDIC (insurance for small depositors to help prevent what were termed "bank panics" when people would withdraw from their banks) Social security act SEC (to make the stock market transparent) Civil aeronautics board (to provide federal regulation to the airline industry) Wagener Act (1935, helped legitimize the rights of union and gave them a court (NLRB) to hammer out their grievances) Fannie Mae (primary mortgage system so more people could own homes) he basically forced everyone to trade in their gold currency; half-ending the gold standard. The economic effect of this is debatable (though IMO successful). But I think these reforms helped a lot. For instance, the USA probably started WW2 with a much cleaner banking and stock system, not to mention a properly regulated airlines industry. Ads |
