Privatizing social security is the correct answer to our problem with it. When you allow the Free Market to dictate important things like your retirement money, it almost always turns out for the best. FACT.

If you don't believe me, just name one time when the Free Market has ever allowed private companies to perform corrupt practices and to take important shortcuts in order to save money. You can't. FACT.

Really? How about Enron, AIG, Countrywide, etc. Privatizing Social Security would make sense only if there were no private retirement investment options available. There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from deciding how to allocate their retirement funds.

I used to be in favor of privatizing social security and medicare. Then I started getting older and realized I would need both of these programs in the foreseeable future. Now I just want to keep the government out of my medicare and social security.

We just need to get rid of entitlements that I don't expect to ever need or qualify for, like HUD section 8 and food stamps for example.

I want to get rid of everyone else's entitlements but keep my own.

There is no way to pay for it. Once payroll taxes go to private accounts, there will be no resources to pay for benefits of existing retirees. The 12.4% taxes do not cover outflow as it is. There is nothing to invest. If you pay legacy costs from the general fund, you change nothing. Younger workers are worse off because you have expanded the govt's liability to Social Security. Unless you bail on benefits for existing retirees, privatizing the sysetm does nothing.

Enron which colluded with Citi and JPM to hide debt off balance sheet.
