I have to say this looks like a really great computer, well worth the $400. The only problem I think you would have with it is the OS (Windows 8), which I've heard isn't very good.

-I hope this helps!

Here is more detail:
http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/mode....M0RAA.003
and a brand survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244419/la..._rule.html

It is a basic fairly low priced 14 inch. Futureshop is discounting it $30 from retail. You have to ignore most of an advertisement. All of the adjective describing it applies to every laptop. The battery life is a false number since 1 hour is up to 4.5 hours. That is with wireless off, LCD on lowest, not running applications in a new battery to get 4.5 hours. Height is not 1 inch. It is Height 33.4 mm 1.3 inches.
Width 342.0 mm and Depth245.0 mm and Weight (Approximate)2.40 kg. That is heavier than average for a 14 inch.

I think it looks OK, but will take some digging to figure out if it is best at the price.
Do you need the 14"? Generally 15.6" is a better value if you don't need the smaller size.
Browsing for better. I think I like this Acer at $55 higher price:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.asp...4215519CVF
Acer Aspire V3-471-6848 Notebook Intel Core i3 2370M(2.40GHz) 14" 4GB DDR3 Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics 3000 4.98 lbs Windows 7 Home Premium.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
2916 cpu score vs 1867, better graphics as HD 3000, lighter weight, running win 7, USB 3.0 means a faster cardbus speed, adds bluetooth, and you can usually add a second ram stick in later yourself fairly reasonably. Nicer system by quite a bit if you can go $55 more.
Bestbuy sale ends today if near you and in stock at the store:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/sams...18aef8en02
A6-4400M is a little lower in CPU than the B960, but HD 7520G is much higher on graphics. The Samsung brand is better than Acer, this is a 15.6" but is only very slightly heavier. It is $500 at Futureshop. Big HDD, Bluetooth, Win 8, gigabit ethernet also. Nice choice at $400 if available to you. No longer online.
3 on in-store clearance at Canada Computers if any are near you to check:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_i..._id=046252
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_i..._id=045432
Last one:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/S...CatId=4935
$50 higher in price plus shipping if online.
Lenovo Essential G580 59344050 Notebook PC - 3rd generation Intel Core i3-3110M 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.6" Display, Windows 8
The core i3-3110M has Intel HD 4000 graphics. The 3110M has 2883 score. It is only 10/100 ethernet and is bigger and heavier, but seems to be priced fairly if you want a big jump in graphics power.
The Acer you found is OK if limited to $400 and Canada Computers and Best Buy do not have what is shown or are not nearby. Would try to spend a little more for Core i3, because laptops are not upgradable. What you buy is used as-is. Can only add DRAM usually.
