Social Media is not about providing a service, they do that but they also collect your personal information and sell it behind your back to ppl you don't want to have it like ins co, bank, employers, and so. These companies won't pay money for it if they weren't able to use it to charge you more, and employers use it to control your personal life with what you say and do. Social Media needs to make money it's not free to run a web site, but it should be advertising only (not data mining) and/or fee based site, and if they can't get enough ppl to pay a fee then maybe there product isn't worth as much as ppl think it is.

Anyone want to ask how I really feel about it.

edit

Damon A, it's worse than getting fired, I read about a year ago that 79% of employers search Social Media about you before hiring and anout 40% of them WILL NOT hire you if don't have a Social Media foot print. So to get a job it's becoming required that you use F_CK B_OK. Some hamburger jobs employers were requiring you to give them your password before they would hire. Anyone wander why things are so m_ssed up?

I can think of far better ways to waste my time. Okay, maybe not better, but certainly more fun.

I can build trebuchets in my back yard and fling cantelopes without getting fired because I mentioned, or complained, about work. Even if I get arrested, I still have a job.

The company put out a memo about social media use and the potential for termination if we spoke badly about the company on social media. Everyone got two copies; one in english, one in spanish. They even went as far as putting a copy over the urinal in the men's bathroom, I assume they did the same on the stall doors of the lady's room.

Talk about your captive audiences,... There's very little in my life that I can think of that needs to be publicized in social media.
