Why do some troubled people cut they're arms and wrists on purpose?
Ok, this random girl on twitter followed me. So I checked her account out to see who she is, and her account was disturbing. She had pictures of her arms all cut, but the blood dried. Out of the cuts, it spelled "stop". She wrote as the tweet "The blood dried before my family can see it". That all led up to me wondering WHY people like her cut. Like, how does that help? Having pain in your arms (because they're cut), and having cuts all over your wrists? I've read other questions like this, but everyone else said they want attention, but I don't know why they CUT, out of all things. Why cut? It's useless and won't do u any good. I don't cut but I know that. So why do people cut?

People who cut have major depression. They just need help. They aren't seeking for attention. They need some comfort. Someone who understands and doesn't judge them. They want to feel safe and loved. You can't really judge someone. You need to more understanding. Be on there shoes. Depression lasts for a long time and it takes a long time for someone to heal. Cutting releases harmons. They punish themselves and they always think its the only way to help there problem. She just needs help. you can tell her to "stop, its not worth it." u don't have to. the longer this takes, she might end up committing suicide..

Merry christmas! and I'm sorry u had to see those pics..

some people might cut for attention, but other's cut because it is a way to cover the emotional pain they feel. Have you ever broken a bone or had anything painful happen where you had to be in the hospital and the nurse squeezed your hand really tight? That's to distract you from the initial pain which feels a lot worse. Cutting is the same thing in the moment. The problem is that people get used to using it as an outlet. But think about it. There are a lot of things people do when they're full of emotions that don't fix the problem. Some punch a wall. Some drink or do drugs. Some get in fights with other people. It doesn't fix the long term problem but it makes them feel better in the moment so they kind of get hooked on it and it becomes a habit.

so why cut? it's just how those people chose to deal with their problems. There might be logic behind it in the beginning but after a while a habit is a habit and they keep doing it because it fixes things in the moment.

cutting also releases chemicals in your brain that almost make you high, like chocolate, music, coffee, sex and drugs do. People associate cutting with the rush and continue doing it. I believe it's dopamine and serotonin? don't quote me on it haha

so that's what I know about it. I'd suggest you do your own google searches to learn more of you're interested.

in the end anyone who cuts, whether for attention or because they're bored or hurting, have real psychological problems that aren't being addressed. Because what person would look for attention by cutting? There's clearly a problem there, even if it's different than someone who is depressed.

hope this helped Smile

Self-harm releases endorphins. She is probably depressed and cuts to feel better. As for the pictures, sounds to me like she is starved of attention.
