I have just published a website and I am trying to market it to gain visibility and traffic. Where do I start? I am very new to internet marketing. Thanks!

You need to advertise your website, get backlinks, blog about it, tell your friends. submit your website to search engines like yahoo, google, bing and more.. you can submit your site to website directories like linktoconnect.com

What your second answerer gave you is key. Spread your link around. Also, use as many local (free) sites that you can to list your business in its appropriate category. If possible, have some people post reviews on those sites for you. If you have a facebook page for your business, do posts that include keyword search terms for your business. Think about what your customer searches for. You can also use Google Ad Words to aid you in what terms to use.
