Which phone is better, iPhone or Samsung Galaxy?

I've never had a smart phone, and I'm about to get one at Christmas.
Should I get an iPhone 4s/5, or a Samsung Galaxy 3? I've heard great things about both.
I really want to be able to do facebook, twitter, youtube, map, instagram, and news.

Personally I would never get an Iphone. My husband has the Galaxy 3 and loves it. The Galaxy has no problem doing any of the things you want it for.

Smartphones are very similar; they'll do almost all the same things, just slightly differently. Go to a cellular store or electronics retailer (Best Buy, etc) and try both of htem out to see which one you like.

If you want simple, Apple (iPhone) is the better choice. If you want to customize/tweak, or want something different than the iPhone (storage, slider keyboard, bigger/smaller, etc.), Android (the Galaxy S III and many other phones) is the better choice.

for me its the galaxy because i had a Samsung Galaxy S2 and im getting the S3 . ...... android phones are much better than apple !! because i tried both and the android is more usefull but apple is much easier to handle with !

I am so happy with the S3. Just got this phone 4 month ago, so I haven't tested out all the features. But I still say that it's just amazing and worth every penny. Apple fan boys beware cause Samsung is here to stay. The phone is extremely light and the display is very big and beautiful. The phone does look big at first, however web browsing, reading books and playing games is very easy due to the screen size. In addition after a while you do warm up to the size and it's hard to go back to a smaller phone.

I'll fight that war on the side of the Samsung Galaxy S3, and we will force iPhone into submission in less than a day!

Seriously though, Samsung Galaxy S3. Both phones can do all of those things, but S3 can do more. I have 2 friends who were die-hard Apple fanboys until they tried out my S3


Another option is the Galaxy Nexus, its older but its still a great phone.

If you are planning to buy a new smartphone then i will suggest you Samsung galaxy note 2. it is best smartphone ever.It has 5.5 inches screen and 2 GB of RAM. Also it has S-Pen stylus which is incredibly creative, by using that pen you actually dont need to touch(tap) the screen,by this pen you can get a benefit of a feature named Air-touch. As you take that pen half inches closer to screen and tap the key available on that pen, the file which you want to open get opened. You will also get benefit of latest android version 4.1 that is jeally bean, which is awsome with its millions of apps. On market the samsung galaxy note 2 is doing a great job. By using this smartphone you also get a feeling of i-pad or any tablet, thats why this phone is considered as 'phablet'. At current moment there is no any smartphone which will beat Note 2. Note 2 is even better than apple iphone 5.
As you mentioned in the question that you never had a smartphone, then i would like to tell you that you will definitely like Samsung galaxy note 2 which is most advanced smartphone. If you are going to buy this phone, believe me you will just rock this christmas.

Go for the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 lacks the good YouTube app. The two phones are pretty much the same as far as performance goes, its mostly a choice of OS. Personally I think iOS is more user friendly and intuitive, so I would go with the iPhone 4S, particularly if you are a new user. You will be impressed!
