What ordinary objects could represent economy?
I'm doing this project on Economy in my Social Studies class. But I'm having some slight trouble with it. You're supposed to look around your house and find every day objects and items that represent a mixed, market and command economy and explain how and why they represent them. Please help me.
Could you give me more examples of a market economy and also tell me how they represent a market?

Ok. Mixed is easy, because the US is the archetypal mixed economy. Find a peice of pure American consumerism, something that shows how lazy consumers are, or how much we consume simply to consume. An example would be the snuggie, if you have one, or something similar.

Command might be a bit harder. The command economy is often coupled with a fascist government, so you could find something that you can somehow relate to fascism. An example would be a security camera, perhaps. Or, you could go for an item that shows government control, like something relating to healthcare, because our healthcare is soon to be basically a control economics model.

Market. Um. To be honest, this is kind of what I was going for in the mixed. It's hard to find an item symptomatic of mixed, because mixed is... well... a mix... Are you sure you arent supposed to find something showing a Traditional economy instead of a mixed? In such a case, simply find something handmade or created in a traditional fashion. If you have any antique handmade things they'd be perfect, or you could take a picture of them if you're afraid to bring it into class.
