Websites to meet people/make friends other than FaceBook & Twitter?

I know that FaceBook & Twitter are 2 of the top social websites to meet people and chat about anything, but what if you want to meet people/make friends other than those 2 websites. I want to make friends based on activities and similar interests, also meet people in public, I mean not stalk people but make friends and do outdoor stuff like riding bicycles, jogging, playing music, going to movies, concerts, art galleries, photography, street fairs, etc. Is there any websites to meet people/make friends other than facebook and twitter, where you make friends based on similar interests/activities/similar trends?

I already know one which is MeetUp.com ---- anyone know other websites?
Also no MySpace or Skype.
