How can I convince my parents to let me get texting?
I'm in 7th grade. I guess you could say my parents are kinda strict about technogly - I'm not allowed to have a Facebook or Twitter or anything like that either.

It seems like I've tried everything.... I've even offered paying for it.

Parents dont want you to offer to pay for it... something like txting most parents would be able to afford can get unlimited for like 15 a month... but they want you to show them you can handle it

Dear suspended,
Just make your parents use these services once and the way is all open.
Good luck.

Ask them about Kajeet.

It's fifteen dollars a month for unlimited text and sixty minutes a month.

I don't see what's so wrong with technology, welcome to 2010, not 1920.

My GRANDMOTHER has a facebook, jeesh ;/

I'de just be like, "so you want me to be the weird one out, the only person without a facebook or texting when peoples GREAT GRANDPARENTS have it?" (well, my great aunt does..)

and if they say yes,

"Great. We'll have this conversation again when I'm being bullied and ridiculed because my parents are lunatics who won't let me have a life. Then you can ask me why I have no friends, because they're off making plans via text and facebook and I'm stuck here. All day. Thanks. Love you too.."

Wink

Edit @ Monstrar: Uh Hi? Don't think ya know me so STFU :-)
I'm allowed to answer questions how I want to. And actuallY, I know from EXPERIENCE of my phone being dead and not having access to a computer that you do infact miss out on plans Wink Not like I was dead serious about the bullying part (y)

I didn't get a cell phone until AFTER my freshman year of high school. Consider yourself lucky that you're not addicted to texting at an early age. Parents know what's best. They may be old, but they're not stupid

They probably don't think your responsible enough to have it. Show them that you deserve it. And its not the end of the world if you don't have a cell phone, i didn't get my phone until grade 9. Why do you think you need a phone, do you go out to party's or the movies? I mean, if you don't go out then you don't need one.
