Should england be liable for Hong Kong's fall behind 25 Mainland cities in prosperity?
Hong Kong is predicted to fall behind at least 25 major cities in Mainland, in terms of prosperity and living standard, within 3 years.

Those group of cities have all kind of human resources and are backed up with solid industries which have been developed with long term plan and vision since 1980s. That is why these cities will grow to take over Hong Kong within these 3 years.

Whereas, during the colonial era, england, other than trying to grab as much money from Hong Kong as she could, did not put a heart on developing Hong Kong, that is why Hong Kong people's overall educational level were low, unless they go abroad for education, and Hong Kong has not have any real industries, except the stock market.

I would not say that england did nothing to Hong Kong in structuring the social system and infrastructure, but for the support of education was extremely minimal, and for the development of any long term industries was zero, that have eventually caused the low survival ability of Hong Kong, nowadays.

Hong Kong's survival completely relies on the Mainland now.

Should england be liable for Hong Kong's fall behind 25 Mainland cities in terms of prosperity and living standard ?

Thanks for your answers.

@ Lim .... show some of your intelligence when answering my question. Any effects would take long years to show, be it positive or negative. That is why it took many years for the development of 25 cities to get matured, so be able take over Hong Kong. Same goes for Hong Kong, the effect of no long term plans during the colonial era starts showing after the same amount of time as the 25 cities took.
.
so you, a foreigner, think that you know Hong Kong more than I do ? lol

If Hong Kong is falling behind 25 mainland cities in prosperity from a position when it was one of if not the best in Asia in the time of British rule and the current government is not controlled by Britain then its not the fault of the British.

Its like blaming China for the USA invasion of Iraq because the the chemical weapon missile casings used in Halabja poison gas attack were made in China.

If the Chinese government could do this to Shanghai in 20 years

http://www.businessinsider.com/shanghai-...010-2010-6

When surely they could have done something to Hong Kong in the 14 years they had it, unless of course you making up facts from the top of your head.

Edit: Have you not forget it may not be the long term planning at fault but the fact that any ideas Hong Kong have had are simply not been put in good use by the CCP who simply say no lets not do it. Its well known that they want Shanghai to be the financially showcase over Hong Kong, especially as they can then claim its 100% histrionically Chinese or in another case they are moving Hong Kong factories and co into Shenzhen's EZ. And believe me 5 er 6 years ago when I lived in Shanghai, the putong area has not changed that much from the photo apart from a couple of more buildings and you can bet your bottom dollar that anyone government with any common sense would have had ideas to improve it and would have done so from the start of running it.

yes, because england only thought about what they could get out of HK at the time, and never planned for long-term HK prosperity, as they never cared for the HK people. Chinese cities in the Mainland are ruled by the Chinese themselves, who are planning for long term prosperity of China as a whole.

Bad management by mainland authorities does not imply that English leadership did a bad job.
