depending on where your ebook is being sold, you can ask friends and family to post reviews of your ebook on the site.
make a professional twitter account, and post things about your book while sending out a ton of invites.
you can purchase ads on Facebook. or make announcements on facebook, and ask your friends and family to post it on their sites (thereby reaching more people).
make ads in your local newspaper, or in newspapers that people, regardless of where they live may read, such as Daily News, The New York Times. Also post ads in the back of magazines (reader's digest, newsweek, Time, etc. . . or magazines that cater to the genre of your ebook).
