Twitter, is it just me or has the world gone mad? What in God's name is the appeal of this utter nonsense?

"I'm going to the shops, terrible about Michael Jackson dying, what shocking news."

"I'm having a crap now, oooooooh that's a relief, thought I might sh it my pants there"

"Just walking along the road now, lovely day, oh no! I need to... I just shit my pants, oh well, sh it happens"

No seriously, do you see what I mean?

Like how could anyone find the monotonous day to day ramblings of others interesting, let alone waste your time typing out your own banal day to day goings on?

Twitter is for Twits I say.

Fragile egos. I can't blame people since it's just how they were raised.

"Micro-Blogging" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro-blogging .

This is, apparently, the appeal of Twitter. Although it depends largely on what type of person you are whether or not you will like, or find a use for, this service. Many people are reserved with respect to what details of their life they tell to complete strangers on the internet, and many people "don't really care" if someone has just stumbled across the mother of all pairs of shoes at a bargain sale.

It's like mustard - you either love it, or hate it (or, in your case, believe that it is the reserve of "Twits".). Twitter can be useful though, for example; in the breaking of news, or to pass mass messages around - recent examples would be the news of Michael Jackson's sad death, or the details on the riots that were taking place in Iran.

So to sum up what I have said above, I'd say that Twitter is useful depending on what you plan on using it for. Having said that, I can think of better things to do than sit at a computer all day telling everyone in the world that I am sitting at my computer.
