How to market a zazzle store?
I've got a friend who wants to start a Zazzle store of his artwork on t-shirts and stuff but he wants to make sure that he's going to make money off of it so we're trying to figure out how do you market your Zazzle store. How do you get web traffic and stuff like that? My friend has dozens of designs he's planning and he's really good at graphic design. Plus neither I or him have money to pay a marketing company to help out. Anyway, we need some marketing help.

Yea I kinda doubt paid advertising would end up profitable, get the designs out there using various free social, image gallery sites, you can make a facebook page for the business, log into facebook under the business name leaving comments on other pages or user groups that will link back to the business page. A free blog might be the central site, something like Blogger.com, wordpress.com, Pinterest uses visual gallerias, it's a bit more female oriented.

There are 36+ million pages on Zazzle, people might not stumble onto yours.

You've asked a question that would take a large book's worth of space to answer. Let me just give you a few tips here. If you really dig into these you'll learn more along the way. If it gives you any incentive know that the most successful Zazzle shop owners earn thousands of dollars per month.
1-Start a blog. I personally use Blogger as it's harder to sell through a Wordpress.com blog.
2-Within Zazzle look for the section on promotional tools. Use them.
3-Start a Facebook fan page for your shop.
4-Part of Zazzle success is about volume. A shop with 10 items in it won't work. Get 2000 items in your shop and you'll begin to sell on a regular basis.

This is way short of what you'll need to succeed but it's a start.

Lots of people make money off of their art on Zazzle. Many more make a pittance, so you're smart to consider what you're doing beforehand. You need decent products in sufficient quantity as mentioned above. The real challenge is marketing: tagging your products and promoting them via social media and other routes. I'd recommend your own website or a WordPress.ORG site. You cannot use WordPress.COM for affiliate sites, which is what your Zazzle store would be. There's a lot of help on the forums and external sources!
