How do you unfollow someone on Twitter who has quit (deleted) their Twitter account?
I'm trying to organize my Following list and follow only the people I know. So I have ten but it says eleven. And I found out there's a user who has quit their account and I don't know how I could unfollow them.

Unfollowing tweeple on Twitter can be done in a number of ways.

There is the Twitter direct approach which is more time consuming and less effective.

1. Logon to your acct
2. Look for the 3 options (Following - Followers - Updates)
3. Select Followers
4. Look for 2 icons on rt side of each bio (Person & Wheel)
5. Click on "wheel" icon
6. Select "unfollow User ID"

While this is the direct approach it certainly isn't very affective for people that have large lists to maintain.

The @BodyByChocolate approach is to use a tool call Twitter Karma which is free. I love free. Smile

Run the wizard on your profile which includes selecting "WHACK"

You can unfollow people directly from this screen by clicking the box next to their user ID and then selecting the "Bulk Unfollow" button at the bottom.

I personally use the drop down box option at the top on the right and choose.

"Only Following"
If I'm following someone that has not followed back I will unfollow them. If they refollow and follow back then all is good. It's just how the game is played on Twitter.

Then I will select the option on this drop down box which reads

"Only Followers"
I have a list of people who I stop following. Sounds weird after I just told you how much importat I put on the follow/following concept? Well, if I'm following someone who remains unactive on Twitter for over 30 days I will unfollow them. When they start posting again I will refollow them.

The above strategies help me keep my Twitter profile both clean and active.

Hope that helps. Feel free to tweet @BodyByChocolate with any Twitter or healthy chocolate question you may have.

I have the same problem, twitter has changed the following and follower list style so if the person deletes their account or gets deleted by twitter you won't be able to unfollow them. I'd say just wait it out and see if twitter refreshes their site.
