Fast Food Industry marketing to children should be banned?
I have a paper to write for my english class (Highschool) on how the fast food's marketing to children should be banned because their food isnt healthy. I've been thinking about this paper and reasons and stuff for days and i just cant seem to come up with some solid reasons. Could anyone help me think of some reason and why.
umm is it just me or are u all completely missing the point of the question?

I have a prompt and thats what I have to argue no matter if its stupid or unconstituional...

You can't come up with solid reasons because it is unconstitutional. To ban this kind of marketing you are taking away peoples right to freedom of the press. You are violating the philosophy of America and freedom. It is up to the parents to educate their young and lead them in the right direction. We have obese people because of laziness and government programs such as Social Security, welfare, food stamps, and on and on and on. Get off the couch and make something of yourselves America and stop sucking on the government nipple.

Doesn't it take the same time to chop some carrots and celery for kids? Or to teach them how to?

Good luck with that..

It's unconsitituonal, and there's nothing wrong with letting kids eat fast food. The commercials are promoting kids to eat at their restuarant, not to ONLY eat there, 3 or more times a day, and never exercise(Wherein lies the real problem). If you force fast food Industries to stop advertising to children, you must also force candy industries to stop making their products in colorful cartoon shapes, and video game industries cannot advertise to children because excessive amounts of the activity involved in them is unhealthy.

I ran into this situation as well. I'm progun, but I ended up getting myself into a situation where I needed to argue as an antigun for school. I think I did a good job considering the incredulously limited resources I had. I destroyed the essay in shame afterwards so I can't post it here lol.

I can't sit here and tell you how to write your persuasive essay, but I can tell you how I did it for myself.

First, I WROTE DOWN THE POINT I WAS PROVING.

-"Handguns should be banned"

Then I BRANCHED OFF WITH MY REASONS.

-"Most crimes are commited with handguns."
-"Handguns are less useful for hunting"
-"Handguns are more concealable"

Then I DEFEND EACH POINT with either statistics, logic, or fanatical emotion (lol).

-"Over 90% of gun violence in America is performed with handguns."
-"Handguns are not effective hunting weapons, attemping to hunt with most handguns would be cruel to animals."
-"Imagine walking down the street, not knowing who might be concealing a gun on their person, and you could be their next target."

Then I COME UP WITH COUNTER-ARGUMENTS that someone would ask.

-"Over 90% of gun violence in America is performed with illegal weapons anyway. What would this law do?"
-"Handguns are often use by hunters for self-defense against large animals where their rifles or bows would be innappropriate"
-"6% of Americans are licensed to carry a firearm yet we don't hear about these shootings as bad as you make it sound."

Then I ADDRESS The COUNTER-ARGUMENTS:

-"Many of these illegal weapons are a result of straw purchases"
-"Hunters could get a special license to purchase a handgun for self defense while hunting."

Or if it is impossible/too much of a stretch to counter a point, avoid addressing it.

Once you are finished brainstorming, determine the order in which you will address each issue.

Remember, when writing a persuasive essay:

-Your first sentence has to really draw the attention of the reader.
-It helps to make your final thought dramatic, leaving them questioning their values.
-Keep your topic focused! Be careful when giving personal experiences, they can be great persuasive tools but they can also drive you off-topic.
-Stay consistent. A comical-obnoxious approach is useful, a mellowed-humble approach is useful, but attempting to be both obnoxious and humble in the same paragraph can ruin your credibility.

Boy, that's a good topic. I would think first and foremost, over weight kids and diabetes. Those seem to go hand in hand now a days!

Good luck on your paper!

no. It's the stupid parents who don't know when to stop feeding their kids. When I was young, I had McD, but only in special occasions (like road trips, after a sport game, etc.). I know some parent's are too busy, but there are choices even in the fast food that is better for kids.

Parent's need to regulate their children's food intake. They also need to stop spoiling their kids. These baby boomers (the current parents in their 40-60s) are catering to their kids instead of teaching them good lessons in life. If a kid wants McD, just say no. The kids will get over it. (if not, give them time out or a little spank in the butt). The parent's might feel bad, but ur kids will understand when they get older. I did.

Parent's need to take personally responsibilty instead of blaming their children's faults on the world.

advice to parents: Teach ur kids discipline and don't be their friends, like ur parents did. Ur not mentally tramatized, so don't think ur kids will be either.

No I cannot. They should not be banned. Mcdonald's have healthier options to there Happy Meal. Apples with caramel dip, you can choose white or chocolate milk, Wendy's is probably the same way. I know you can order a side salad with your order instead of fries if you like or a fruit cup. Fast Food places are trying to make things better for people so they have more and healthier choices. You can get a healthy subway if you choose the right things. I am not sure about other places.
