Would the Social Security deficit be helped by people taking early retirement at age 60 instead of waiting 62?

No, a person drawing Social Security benefits at 60 would receive more from the government than would be paid in by a new worker, who would probably be much younger and making less. What government needs to do is to get people to die sooner, which is the real reason why it is pushing health care reform so hard, because this is how government will ration health benefits to older citizens and by denying them coverage cause them to die sooner.
