I just confused myself. So my twitter is on private, and I have alot of new followers that I approved, but I'm not following them back. If they're following me, will I be able to see what they tweet to me?

It's best if you follow them, but you don't have to. To see what someone has tweeted to you directly, type @yourusername in the search box on the side of your Twitter homepage. This will show you all of the most recent tweets with @yourusername in, regardless of whether or not you're following that person.
