how do i develop the habit of reading a book?
i've read many many, and many books... problem is, all of them are read maximum 30 pages. i get bored... i have to check my facebook, twitter, the news site, check my emails... etc and etc.. and then watch that tv series episode i missed, online, or start a new series if i watched everything... but these are keeping me from intellectual betterment so i have to gain self control. problem is i cant sit there and read... i have something flowing in my nerves after a while.

Your brain is wired differently than people who didn't grow up with the internet. It needs constant "new content" which is why you're having so much trouble reading.

You have to wean yourself from the constant checking of "new content." Whatever you want to check will still be there when you're ready for it, but if you constantly allow yourself to give in to the impulsive feelings of having to check it RIGHT NOW, you're actually causing yourself more stress and anxiety than if you learn how to let the impulse go away and allow it to leave without fulfilling it.

Turn your phone off, close your computer, and let the book take you away from the impulsivity of our culture.

The first thing you should do is figure out what kinds of things you like to read. After you do that, find a book and start reading it. And something I do to keep moving around and not get bored is after every chapter, or every 15 pages or so, I go into a different room in the house, or I change my position. It really helps, and when I do that I can read for long periods of time without getting distracted. And make sure you're comfortable, too. You can never focus if you're not in a comfortable position. Go somewhere where it is more difficult to be distacted. Take your book & go to a park or library for a specified amount of time, say 50 pages worth. Soon you will get so involved in the book that you will read past your goal.
Another good way is audio books. you can listen in the car or bus or even while you walk. E-books downloaded on your computer can also help with computer withdrawal . Find what works for you.
