I am heading up a party for those who are struggling financially this year and have absolutely nothing. We'd like to provide them with a christmas tree, wreaths and garland along with the toys and food. Any ideas where I'd go to get that thanks?

No where since you are not a tax exempt nonprofit.
A wholesaler can't afford to give away product. Even small Christmas Tree Growers are asked at least by 10 different groups wanting something for free. 10 yrs to grow the tree and plenty of money outlay plus labor and no one can afford to give product away. Try buying wholesale. Ads |

It doesn't hurt to ASK a few shops. If you have a leaflet explaining who the people are, and who you, the organisers, are, with a couple of contact numbers, it might help.

Facebook and Twitter. If you include a photo (make sure you own it), it can make a difference in the number of people who pay attention to it.
Also send an email or make a phone call to your local newspaper and radio stations. The sooner the better. Don't just put this on the church Facebook page. This needs to be on your own page and other people's pages, too. Same for Twitter. |
