How do you check your private messages on new twitter?

I am very new to twitter and don't really know how to work it yet.
i use my laptop

at the very top of the website you see a body person , there is a drop down thing .Click that and then click direct messages

On Twitter, private messages are called direct messages. You can check your direct messages by looking at the upper right hand corner. If you see a figure of a person, its right next to the blue icon you click on that figure. It will give you a scroll down of things such as Direct Messages, Lists, Help, Keyboard Shortcuts, Settings, Sign Out. You click on Direct Messages and it will lead you to where you see your messages. Twitter is a bit confusing, it was confusing for me at first too but you will get used to it.
