have heard quite a lot about them..and was wondering..which ages they are and what do they do on street corners? (have heard they shout things at people..but do they do this to only people their age or do they do this to older people too? ) can give examples?

why they do this? how old does one need to be to be a "chav"?

Anyone can be a chav, it's just the average traveler or knacker except in the city

A chav is someone who says fingk for thing, wears a track suit to the mall, drives a Ford Cortina, has a name like Chardonnay, and is generally kind of trashy.

Stereotype is:
Teenagers, although the age range can vary dramatically.
Young people, as opposed to older people though.
Wearing things like designer trainers/tracksuits/hats, along with anything else that looks vaguely flashy (although in an attempt to look flashy it ends up looking ridiculous most if not all of the time).
Working-class or unemployed etc. and so tend to hang around places in groups more, although you could say that of any class really.
Difference is chavs are any of the ones who are particularly loud, confrontational and in-the-way.
They probably just shout things at people out of a combination of boredom and dislike for people who look different to them. But there are a hell of a lot of reasons for antisocial behaviour so who knows.

It's yet another word stolen from the Romani people. I won't tell you what it means because you've already got your own definition but I will tell you CHAVAIA! DOSTA!

A chav is a stereotypical yob that causes trouble in his/her neighborhood.
Offences they may commit could include but not limited to drug abuse, drunk and disorderly, breaching the peace, criminal damage and theft.
Lifestyle includes dance and techno music and the love for MC's which are basically fast-rappers talking about fighting and taking drugs and how cool they believe they are.

A chav is usually unemployed for many years and is a drain on society.
You may see a female chav in the local government employment agency trying to claim more money for her baby who has been left by its father who is probably in prison or with another woman.

A chav usually wears sportswear like tracksuit bottoms and trainers and are typically fond of Burberry and Fred Perry. This does include the knock-off fakes you can obtain from markets and other clothing stores.

Ages can range from 10 to late 30's. The peak of a chav is probably around 18 where their primal activities are completed. Usually the punishment of prison in their early 20s can be enough to set one straight.

The term 'chav' is most commonly known in the Northern part of the UK where it is believed the trend was created in the 1990's. Chavs have now 'evolved' thanks to the evolution of social networking and it's now harder to identify a chav who may wear different clothes than their predecessor species.
