How do I protect my unique website idea from posers imitating my idea?

I have this new idea that could make money and could be like Google someday. How do I protect my idea from people or companies from copying the same idea after I show it to the world? I mean like Facebook, it is like Friendster but very innovative thats why it makes money, now the fact that the whole world knows what Facebook is and why is it so popular and how it generates more money than Friendster, companies like Friendster could or allowed to imitate the same thing and make money the same way like Facebook?

Don't show off your idea to look like a bad ass and just keep it to yourself once you get it developed. That simple

You can't keep people from copying the idea. Facebook and all the rest have lots of copycats. What you have to do is get it to market and grow it fast so that none of the imposters attract much attention.

As with anything on the internet- anything can be copied, stolen or ripped off. Its one of the biggest problems with the internet. Just keep the idea to yourself and develop it as far as you can before sending it live. That way you will have a better chance of staying ahead of any copycats.

Also, when you get it live, make sure you constantly keep adding value to it. By doing this you will gain loyalty from users and it will be less likely they will go to copycat sites. Constant improvement is a good tactic as you will always be the best in theory and usually in practice.

Hi. The internet is a big place and lots of ideas are being stolen everyday and lots of ideas are considered as trash. What you have to do is to constantly produce good, original and unique content no matter piracy is rampant online. Believe or not, Google will still give you credit in the future.
