What group is more popular SS501 or Arashi?

I think Arashi is more popular. In 2009, Arashi had the #1,2,3.5 singles as well as #1 in dvd and album sales. They also held overseas concert in Korea, Shanghai, and Taiwan.

I'm Japanese though I'm living in the US. I believe that Arashi is the most popular in Japan now days.

Anyhoo I've never heard of SS501, so I searched them into Internet. They are Korean boy group. I think Toho Shinki, who is from Korea too, is more famous in Japan.

Personally I like SS501 more. But in terms of popularity... maybe Arashi, cause they debuted first ages ago and were really successful in the Asian market. Then their popularity extended overseas to beyond Japan during that JPop craze period. I think now the craze is KPop and SS501 is gradually gaining ground. But better? It's hard to judge. You can't really compare two groups that debuted years apart, sing different styles of music... anyway I think it really depends on the person. And the region. Haha, what a difficult question to ponder! I hope you get your answer.

i love both of the groups, but i would have to pick arashi.
i mean ss501 has a big fan base but arashi's fan base is a lot bigger and not only in asia, but here in the states as well. :] and from the fact that arashi has been around for 10-11 years and has alot more time to build up their fan base.

I think that Arashi's more populare. 2009 really proved to me that Arashi's incredibly well known in Japan. The reason why I chose them is because (like what somebody else already said) they got #1, #2, #3 and #5 in the yearly single sales, #1 on the yearly music DVD sales, #1 on the yearly album, as well as #1 for the yearly total sales by an artist. It really showed me how well known Arashi is in Japan, as well as all over the world.

The reason to why I think they're so popular is because even though they're so popular, they're all really humble people and their relationship with each other is so great. They're TV shows are hilarious to watch too. I think SS501 is awesome too though. ♥! Because I'm Stupid is one of my most played songs lol.
