Why do dating sites have to charge money from users?
Why do dating site have to charge money from users? Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, Tumblr, and Reddit do not, because they charge advertisers. Why cannot dating sites also charge advertisers instead of charging users? There is an argument that dating sites have fewer users than other social networks, but that is in part because fewer users can afford to pay the money, and the dating sites can charge smaller businesses who are more willing to small fees to networks with fewer people - or even better, dating sites can collect money from dozens of small businesses and entrepreneurs so as to afford a few of its own advertisements so as to add even more users without charge. There are very few dating sites that do not charge money, such as AspergersRomanceNetwork.webs.com, but that does not have many people (but it will become more popular if more people join!). Does anyone know why dating sites cannot simply advertise small proprietors and entrepreneurs for money, so that they can exponentially accelerate the user populations?
Yes, Farah, I know that it costs money to create a dating site, but collecting money from those who are willing to trying to make money and thus more willing to pay so that dating sites can make a profit without charging users will cause more users to be willing to join, so that the advertisers will know that they will be advertising on a site with more people who will receive that advertisements, so they will be willing to pay for more advertisements, and more advertisers will be willing to advertise. The dating site will make a greater profit, and will afford to use a fraction of its increased revenue to adveritse itself so as to further increase its profit, so as more users and advertisers become aware of the site, more will join, and more users and advertisers will benefit even more, as the site also benefits even more. It will work in a cycle. And we do not have to pay money in return to Facebook and Twitter, but Zuckerberg is a young billionaire and one of the wealthiest American
