There are generally 2 things you can do to get more followers on Twitter:

1. Post interesting content, not "I just ate a bigmac at McDonalds, or I am the smartest person in the world, etc."

2. Follow people who share common interests with you.

Also, one of the best ways to get more followers on Twitter is to find a person you like and follow some of their followers, many people will return the favour and you already have something in common. Personally, I also believe asking people to follow you is a cheesy way and one of the worst ways to get more followers on Twitter, especially if you don't know them personally.

Hope I Helped! Smile

The best and easiest way to gain Twitter followers is to use Social Exchange websites like http://robovisits.com :-)

Twitter is a great place to share interesting and relevant information with your following. Build out your profile and start sharing good content - pictures, links, etc.

Then you should start to follow other people - search on Twitter for people you think will be interesting to follow. Try http://followerwonk.com/ - it's a great site to find Twitter users based on their interests and location information they include in their bios.

Keep sharing good content and every day follow a few more people. Those people will check out your profile and decide to follow you if they like what you are saying!

Try not to follow say 100 people in one day. You following and followers count shouldn't be vastly different.

Hope this helps!

It really depends on how many you want, what you are looking for and how much time you have on your hands. If your looking for a few hundred followers and dont mind raising the amount that you follow I suggest twiends.com. The only downside to this site is that you aquire way too many people that you follow and the amount of followers you get always decreases dramatically, leaving you with next to none in a week or so. Add to the fact that Twitter usually bans users that use this site.

On the other hand "buying followers" is just as bad. Most are bots and dissappear fast.

I do however know of an ebay seller that sells Twitter ACCOUNTS. I bought my Twitter account from here and even though it says 30 000 I got close to 40 000. its link is here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...500wt_1156

In my personal opnion I like purchasing accounts that already have so many thousand followers becasue you know the followers are real and you can change the username and password to whatever you want. You basically just take over the account.
