To chat with your Facebook friends you will first have to link your Yahoo! and Facebook accounts. You can do that from within Messenger by completing the "Link to Facebook" flow. This flow can be initiated from two places. You can either:
1.Click the Link to Facebook banner within the main window.
2.Or you can open the Messenger > Preferences > Connected Networks tab and then click the Add Facebook button.
Once you have linked your Yahoo! and Facebook accounts you will be able use the following procedure to sign in to, or out of, Facebook Chat:
1. Click the Messenger menu, or right-click the Facebook Friends contact group.
2. Select Sign in to Facebook Chat or Sign out of Facebook Chat.
When you are signed in to Facebook chat, just double click a Facebook friend's name to start a conversation .
NOTE: Remember, you will only be able to link your Facebook account to one Yahoo! account. You will receive a message stating that the account is already linked if you try to link it to a second account. You will need to unlink the current account before linking a different Yahoo! account to the same Facebook user account.

1) go to your yahoo profile
2) Select Settings located at the upper-right corner the page.
3) select Linked Accounts
4) On the new page that opens, select Link located next to the account you want to link.
5).Sign in by typing the email address and password that you used to sign up that account.
6) Select Connect
7) .If you want to share your Yahoo! updates with your Facebook or Twitter account, leave the box checked; otherwise, uncheck the box if you don’t want to share your Yahoo! updates with Facebook or Twitter

8) Select Continue to complete the linking process.
