Will surrogates become real and be available for use before this generation dies?

There were a few monkeys who were able to control robotic arms with a brain implant that read signals from their brain to direct the arm. There was also a tetraplegic human who was able to control a computer pointer with his brain based on a similar technology. It might be possible to have some machines that can be controlled by the brain directly.
