is it ok to promote a small community by twitter quiz?
the tweets of my community should've been about books donation, or how our activities with the orphans went,.. but i felt like doing nothing if i only got 90 followers at that time. I wanted people to know more about my small community, so if people want to donate something simple, like books, or money to buy new books for library in remote area, they know that they could give it to us. so that we could donate more to the childs, and knowing that the books aren't just going to recycle bin, but to the right hand.

so i held a small quiz. i asked them to mention their friends who likes to share and give to others, and as you all know, many people join and follow. but i don't feel right doing it, remembering that they follow us only for the quiz, i'm pretty sure after the prize called, a lot will unfollow us. It's quite sad but.. is there anything else I could do to promote a small community like us? as it's not a business, just a nonprofit community. Confused

thanks in advance, for all the answers Smile
yes, actually it has its own blog, and we did a lot of orphanage visiting before.. but i wanted more people to pay attention to us, so that one day when we're going to held another event, we could attract more people to volunteer, or to donate. thanks for the answer, kevin!

Hi Karimata,

Don't worry about whether others might not follow you. They can and will make up their own minds about that. You cannot control that.

What you can do, though, is to regularly update your Twitter followers about the work you are doing, and about the children who are in the orphanages.

I think you might be best to start a blog or Facebook Page about your activities, because Twitter does not enable you to tell a story in such a small amount of text. Instead use Twitter to put links to your blog or Facebook page and encourage people to follow you there.

It is most important that you communicate what you do. Even if you have a small following now, this will grow very rapidly if you keep posting content to Twitter, Facebook and your blog. People need to see activity to keep following you. It is no good waiting for enough people before you start to do something.

Good luck!

-- Kevin.
