What ISP do companies such as Facebook and big websites use?

What ISP's would websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Ebay etc use?
With there great amount of servers and people accessing theese servers each day surley they would requite a specialist ISP...or do they do it another way?

Just really something i've wondered for a while and couldnt seem to find much information from googling.

Servers usually use ISDN-PRI and ISDN-EXT (T1) offered by the same carriers that we regular people use, but aren't practical for us (too expensive).

Big servers can move into groups of ISDN-PRI called T3s which are basically 28 regular T1 connections.

then of course all internal traffic goes of a standard WAN router at 1 GB generally speaking...

They dont use small ISPs rather they do what ISPs do - own their own big banks of modems and pay communication network companies like Force 10Networks or ACN for access and support usually through t1 or t3 connections.

These communication network companies sell both individual / small business access,
and commercial sized high speed internet access - more hardware required.

These connections carry huge amounts of data and are managed behind the scenes by in house IT specialists employed by the website/business -webmasters, hardware geeks, and database managers.

They host user accounts under various profit based models like making or hoping to make money through:

- paid access
- mostly free with paid privileges
- advertising
- honor system (please donate here)
- selling user info
- combinations of all of the above
