is their jobs for meteorology?
I am thinking about going into Meteorology but I don't know much about Job opportunities and such. so if I got a Degree to become one would a get a job (I know it's a ruff job market currently) but it this GROWING OR SHRINKING FIELD? thanks!

Hi Josh, according to this site http://www.bls.gov/ooh/life-physical-and...ogists.htm the job growth outlook for that field is average, so it is neither growing nor shrinking right now. Good luck! Smile

Job prospects for METs are dismal these days for new grads. Colleges are turning them out faster than they can be hired. Computers are making the need for operational METs obsolete.

Opportunities for people a BS degree with major course work in meteorology...
1) Stand in line at the unemployment office
2) Bag groceries
3) Load packages at UPS or FedEx
4) Professions where math aptitude is desired...such as Operations Research analyst
5) Air pollution permitting and modeling
6) Wind energy
7) Electrical power demand

Best opportunities for work in the profession are found in places where no one else wants to work (i.e., Alaska...Guam...Cold Butt...MT, etc.).
