Use anything as above, but don't dream.
Once you will have built your site, your friends and family MAY log in and use it, for a week or two, then your site will die, because it will NEVER get enough users.
Millions of people have built social networks, trying to have a clone of Facebook, twitter or any other.
NONE of them, without investing millions of $ in advertising, have survived more than a few months.

It is not a question of making a site, it is a question of marketing it with a VERY BIG BUNCH of money!
No Money? No Site...
