advantage : gossip , female growth

disadvantage : internet monopoly

Advantages: Putting an image of yourself out there of what you would like people to think of you. Gaining attention from people (not always the right people).

Disadvantages: Putting out lots of information for free for anyone you happen to "friend", and of course for employers who now are asking some people for their facebook passwords. Giving facebook free information about what products and events you like, which is valuable information they sell to marketing companies. The location widget which tells people where you are, great so people know when you're not home.

Advantage: making new friends in places you wouldn't otherwise ever visit or know about

Disadvantage: making new friends and believing the lies they tell you only to find out after you make the decision to meet them that they look like jabba the hut and smell like 7 day old cheese pizza
