first of all, they're addicting and can take a lot of time away from studying and work.
plus theres some perverts out there so if you dont secure your facebook properly, there can be perverts going through your page and pictures all day long without you knowing it.

there's no freakin mystery left in life. you can find out what happened to that fling you had 20 years ago just by typing in their name. you can see your effing crushes entire extended family with the click of a mouse. you are informed when a classmate you have spoken to twice just had a shower.
and it is so easy to stalk people with it it's just creepy.

I don't believe there to be any, given the sites are only used for what they were created for! However that will never happen as too many people abuse these sites. Shame

Well to start, Facebook can be bad because,if you don't know or haven't noticed, people get on there for hours at a time playing "facebook" games such as farmville and cafe world. With that being said, there are people that actually pay money to get stuff in those games ( like my mom). Another reason I think Facebook could be bad is because it makes it easy to advertise yourself. I can't tell you how many people have profile pictures of themselves getting getting drunk, getting high and other stuff like that. To add on that one, there are facebook "creepers" so facebook can be somewhat dangerous for younger people(usually girls), not to mention it's easy for people to pretend to be someone they aren't in order to get in touch with younger people. Lastly facebook can get you in trouble because people are too quick to write whats on their mind in there little "status box" without thinking about consequences. Word gets around fast. You never know when you "status" can get you in trouble with work, you can ask my best friend about that one.

Well the notion of big brother could be bad as pertaining to social networking sites like Facebook. Some of the applications like Farmville have been known to leak a person's Facebook information to other companies for a profit. Also, Facebook has the right to all the information you put on their site as stated in their terms of agreement.(Such as pictures, birth dates, phone numbers, etc.) Even after the account is deleted permanently, there is still a trace of it on their servers.
Facebook also can be used against a person to track them down or stalk them. By updating your status to what you are doing and where you are doing it can be a potential danger to younger users. Many individuals do not understand privacy these days. By posting your information and pictures on Facebook, you are posting it to the entire world. It can affect your chances of getting specific jobs or even in future relationships. Some police agencies are already requiring prospects to hand over their Facebook usernames and passwords for review before they are hired. Also, many jobs look up their prospects on Facebook to check if they are responsible to hire.(Having pictures of you getting drunk and doing stupid things is not the image you want a future employer to see).
Also, things posted on Facebook could be used as evidence against you in any civil or criminal cases in the future. It is just another way of documenting your every move. The government can also do random sweeps on accounts looking for suspicious activity. So by putting information on social networking sites, you just have to realize that that information is not safe.(even with privacy settings) People should be more responsible with the information they put out on the net regardless of where it is.
