mike huckabee expressed his views as to why the country is in moral decline, stating that religion and belief in the principle of God being removed in school is a reason for the decline.regardless of whether you believe or not,the bible does offer great and everlasting advice as how to live a more content, selfless life.but after he says what he did, twitter and other social outlets were bombarded with quite the opposite view.so it just stands to reason that it must be true, for the behaviors of so many is that of pure hatred and evil..just like a non-believers way of thinking.

Because people do not believe any more. They have lost faith. But we should pray for them.

Even though i'm not religious, i think religion works as a self regulator. You think 10 times before swearing, killing, suicide. Basically, religion does make you a nicer person.

Because unfortunately it's "uncool" to have religious beliefs. Nowadays it's "cool" to be atheist. I don't like to get into these arguments because they're hopeless. No side is ever going to change his/her mind. I most certainly believe in a Higher Power and no amount of scientific theories will change that.

As for what Huckabee said, I agree for the most part. There isn't much of a moral compass left, whether it's based on the Bible or not.

Welcome to the real world. Not the one we live in our living room in front of a television set. The one that most of us dont see. The one where we drive down the highway and see a family laying out under sheets. The one we are not there to witness as they get picked up and taken away so that nobody will notice the dead body parts splattered all over the inside of the car like bugs on the front windshield. Nor the one that has to suppress whole nations just so that we can feel comfortable when we go to the market and find the shelves full of so many things. Nor do we see or know about the country and the poor people who have to go out and pick and toil in the ground just so that we can have cheap tomatoes on our salads. The one where when you express your ideas you get attacked and suppressed by people you never saw before. The one that can get you killed for standing up and saying your mind. The one that needs two or three bodyguards surrounding you when you goes out anywhere because so many people either want to love you to death or kill you for your parts. The one where if you are a juicy morsel the people will squeeze every drop and more out of you. Welcome to the real world.

Because atheism is no longer just a state of disbelief in a higher power, but a movement now high jacked by anti-theists, you find more a lot of hem in religious discussions. they blame almost everything bad on religion and completely overlook the catalyst that is human nature itself, give these anti-theists enough power, and they will become that which they claim to despise, something like An Anti-organised religion.

And we thought the Jehovah witnesses were bad, just you wait.

Maybe this is true.
but not everyone has the same values. I think everyone should learn to respect one anothers beliefs. I dont attack people who are religious in fact i could care less in what you believe in as long as you're not shoving it down my throat. My friend recently took god into her life & shes happier but she found out that if she really wanted to stay in god's -good graces she figured shed have to live like a nun or something.

Bull. It is NOT only nonbelievers who are angered by his statements and think he is completely out of line. When facts do NOT support a claim that someone makes, and more often than not actually CONTRADICT the claim outright, then the claim is wrong. It's that simple. And in this case, his claim has NO basis in facts whatsoever, and Mike Huckabee is nothing more than a theist opportunistically jumping on a tragedy and using it to dishonestly promote his personal religious beliefs. THAT is why people...believers and nonbelievers alike reacted with such anger towards him and his statements.

Theists have NEVER been able to demonstrate that praying or believing in God stops people from doing things like murdering, raping, and stealing, and FORCED prayer has CERTAINLY never been demonstrated to dissuade such behavior. Prayer is not, and NEVER has been a cure-all for social ills, so the entire premise is utterly and demonstrably false.

An unspeakable tragedy like this is NOT something to make light of, the way that religious people like Huckabee do by using and abusing the horrific circumstances for the purpose of pushing their religious beliefs on others. Theists who do that should be deeply, deeply ashamed of themselves. They have NO right to trivialize the suffering of the wounded, grieving, or dying by USING them and using their circumstances to push their religious propaganda on others.
Mike Huckabee is a moron, using an unspeakable tragedy to do exactly that, and we have EVERY RIGHT to call him to task for it, we have EVERY RIGHT to point out how and why his statements are blatantly wrong, and doing so has nothing to do with being filled with hatred and evil. It has EVERYTHING to do with being sick and tired of seeing people like him abusing situations like this to push personal agendas.
